The Entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema feltiae, S. carpoc-
apsae and Heterorhanditis bacteriophora) were tested in field trails
against Capnodis tenebrionis larvae in in commercial orchards in the
Galilee, Israel. The major finding are as follow: 1) No significant dif-
ference in C. tenebrionis control was found between the three studied
nematodes species. 2) Dose of 3 million nematodes per tree was
found more effective control than 1 million per tree. 3) Nematodes
applications in both spring (May) and autumn (Sep.) supplied bet-
ter control than in other periods or a single application. 4) Nema-
todes introduction by drench and through the drip irrigation system
provided similar good control of C. tenebrionis larvae. 5) Covering
the top soil around the base of the stem with polyethylene sheets did
not improve the efficacy but favored the nematodes survival in the
soil. The possibility of integration of enthomopathgenic nematodes in
environmentally friendly management of C. tenebrionis in stone-fruit
orchards is discussed.0
